District 58 Toastmasters Leadership Institute (TLI) (Club Office Training), was held on Saturday, July 20, 2002 at Lutheran Theological Southern Seminary, Columbia, South Carolina. During this event Immediate Past District Governor and Distinguished Toastmaster Geneva Anderson announced her selection for the District 58 2001/2002 Division Governor of the Year--Distinguished Toastmaster Fred Malone, 2001/2002 Division A Governor and 2002/2003 District 58 Lieutenant Governor Marketing.
Fred Malone’s Toastmasters’ accomplishments are numerous. Governor Anderson told of just a few to establish Fred’s credentials as the recipient of the recognition. Fred has been a member of Toastmasters for slightly more than two years. In this time he has served as President of his Home Club, a President’s Distinguished Club; has completed the requirements for his Distinguished Toastmasters recognition, and helped start five new Toastmasters Clubs in Division A. His Division was one of only two Division to achieve President’s Distinguished Division this past year. Those who know Fred see in him the future of District 58. Fred doesn’t get involved unless there is reason to believe success can be achieved. His vision is to see District 58 as a President Distinguished Division throughout the four years he will serve as a District Officer.
