Proclamation

COLUMBIA TOASTMASTERS MONTH IN DISTRICT 58
DECEMBER 1, 2003 THROUGH DECEMBER 31, 2003

Whereas, the ability to speak in a clear and effective manner is a powerful and important skill that can help overcome barriers to effective performance in virtually every endeavor and line of work; and

Whereas, by assisting in the development of essential communication skills, Toastmasters International, through its many clubs Worldwide and specifically through the Columbia Toastmasters Club #1393, performs a valuable service for its members and those who carry the message of opportunity, initiative and good fellowship; and

Whereas, during the month of December the Columbia Toastmasters Club #1393 is celebrating its fiftieth year of outstanding achievements; and

Whereas, the Columbia Toastmasters Club #1393 has continually provided District 58 and Toastmasters International with leaders including our first District Governor Archie Lugrnbeal who served in 1957 & 1958 and again served as our District Governor in 1964 & 1965; Able Toastmaster Luther Gower who served as our District Governor in 1961 & 1962 and as an International Director during the years 1963 to 1965; Distinguished Toastmaster Bill Loeble who served as our District Governor in 1973 & 1974 and as an International Director during the years 1976 to 1978; and Distinguished Toastmaster Gene Osburn who served as our District Governor in 1979 & 1980;

Therefore, I, William L. May, Jr., DTM, Governor, District 58, do hereby proclaim December 1, 2003 through December 31, 2003 to be:

"Columbia Toastmasters Club #1393 Month in District 58"

I encourage all Toastmasters of District 58 to recognize the many accomplishments and opportunities in communication and public speaking that the Columbia Toastmasters Club #1393 has provided its Members and our organization. IN WITNESS WEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the Seal of District 58 to be affixed this 1st day of December in the year of our Lord 2003.
