Fall Conference

District 58 Toastmasters will be convening on October 26 & 27 at the Ramada Plaza Hotel, 8105 Two Notch Road, Columbia.
An exciting weekend of fun, fellowship and education is planned, and it all starts on Friday night with the not-to-be-missed Murder Mystery staged by Palmetto Mastercrafters at 8:00 p.m.
Saturday starts with Credentials and Registration at 8:00 a.m. It will be worth getting up in time to attend the breakfast roast of Immediate Past District Governor Karen Alexander, DTM. Toastmaster Fred Malone will preside and help us get to know the REAL Karen!
Club Presidents and Vice Presidents of Education are reminded of the District Council Meeting to be held from 10:30 a.m. to noon. Each President and VPE is a voting member of the Distrrict Council and should plan to be present to discuss the business of the district. If you cannot attend, be sure your club is represented by assigning someone from the club to carry the club's proxies. A sample proxy can be found here.
Paul Puckett, DTM, Past Governor of District 48, will be the keynote speaker at the District Governor's Luncheon. Then it will be on to the District Evaluation Contest.
The afternoon will be filled with educational sessions such as "Starting New Clubs," "Taking a Struggling Club to President's Distinguished," "Giving an Inspirational Speech," "Recruiting Members in a Company Club," and "Meeting Variety."
A delightful evening is planned as we recognize district performers for 2000-2001. Susan Nicolai, CTM, will preside over the Humorous Speech Contest as we listen to the division winners compete for district honors.
A registration form can be found here. We have set aside a block of rooms at the Ramada at a rate of $72.00 per night. Call 1-800-272-6232 and request the Toastmaster rate, prior to October 12.
All of these exciting plans are being made with you in mind. We look forward to seeing you in Columbia, so get your registration in today.
