- Does your club website contain pertinent content as required by Toastmasters International and requested by District 58?
The more information about your club is provided on your club website, the better your club and your club website will be. Your club website should not be a short "teaser" page, but a professional document treated like a brochure. Please check:
Site Contents (District 58 club website building guide)
Internet Guidelines (Headquarters Toastmasters website policy)
- Does the club meeting information on your club website match that as published on the District 58 website?
Your club will have a better reputation if people can find it. You will receive more guests at your meetings if they know where your club meets. Please include meeting day and time prominently on your club website. Also, check the listings on the District 58 and Headquarters websites for correct matching information and contact us or Headquarters as necessary for corrections or updates:

- Does the club contact information on your club website match that as published on the District 58 website?

- Does your club website contain links to District 58, Region 8, and Toastmasters International?
The inclusion of links on your club website to those who support your club is a common courtesy afforded by your club. For best visibility and reciprocation please ensure the following links are included, preferably on the cover/index/title page or included as part of a set of links.
http://www.toastmasters-d58.org (Toastmasters District 58)
http://www.region8tm.org (Toastmasters Region VIII)
http://www.toastmasters.org (TI Headquarters)
- Has your club website been reviewed or updated within the last 30 days?
Your website will become stale if not checked periodically. Although your website can be designed with generic information, visitors to your website may not return to it should they notice that your website has not changed in a period of time.
- If your club website uses frames on the index page, is all information on the pages displayed within the frames seen or can be reached by scrolling?
Although frames provide a nice multiple-page display as an alternative to the standard single-page display of your website, they could complicate matters if that design is incorrect. For example, an incorrectly coded frameset could mask part of one of its pages it is showing. If something is not showing up correctly on your website and you need help correcting it, please contact us or visit our club website building guide resource page.
- Is your club website read well using Microsoft Internet Explorer and Netscape browsers?
Your club website should be easily and properly displayed using the most popular browsers: Microsoft Internet Explorer and Netscape. Both browsers are free. Please ensure that you use the latest versions of these browsers for your system for best display. For more information please visit:
Microsoft Internet Explorer
Netscape
- Does your club website use properly worded meta tags?
Your club website should have coding that includes proper and pertinent keywords and a description that will help people, especially prospective members, locate your website. Keywords and descriptions also alert search tools on the Internet to find your website when users key in your club name or function in a form on a search box or page. The more pertinent and exact your keywords and descriptions are, the higher on the search result list your club may appear. If you need help please contact us or visit our club website building guide site promotion page.
- Does your club website show up in a browser within ten seconds?
Not everyone has a fast connection to the Internet. As you build your site please consider using a dial-up service to check how fast your website pages are showing up. If you are using a fast connection as default on your computer, and if you have a telephone line hooked up to it, you may be able to override the default connection setting and use the telephone line to connect to the Internet and check your club website. Or, you may use a separate computer connected via dialup, or obtain feedback from a friend with a slow connection. Each page should take no longer than ten seconds to display in your (or your friend's) browser over a slow connection. Display times longer than ten seconds may turn guests away from your club website and maybe even your club.
