FAQs:

Do Speakers Bureau speeches count for educational award credit?
Yes, if another Toastmaster attends and completes the manual evaluation.
Can I receive payment for speaking?
Members cannot receive direct payment. The organization may make a donation to the District to be used for educational purposes. Payment directly to members jeopardizes Toastmasters International’s non-profit status. Organizations may give speakers an inexpensive gift such as a mug, gift basket, pen and pencil set, etc. if the event is during a meal, the organization typically provides the speaker’s meal at no cost to the speaker.
Can I promote Toastmasters at the speaking engagement?
Yes. When scheduling the event, ask the organization’s coordinator what you may do in that regard. You may be able to speak a few minutes about Toastmasters, hand out brochures, etc.
Where do I get brochures?
If you are placing an order with Toastmasters International, there are several free brochures available to members, some of which have a maximum free limit. Otherwise, the District can supply through the Speakers Bureau Chair.
Will the District or my club reimburse my travel?
No.
